Preservation Treatments (Surrey) Limited, together with other members of the Property Care Association, [PCA], (formerly the British Wood Preserving and Damp Proofing Association), [BWPDA], have contributed to establish and maintain Protection Trust Ltd, an independent organisation which has been instituted to protect the interests of property owners.

We are also members of the Structural Waterproofing Association,[SWA].

Under the scheme insurance is provided so that if a contractor is not available to meet a claim, Guarantee Protection Trust (GPT) will stand in place of that contractor and honour the guarantee. We are also members of Trustmark, as members of the PCA, set up by the Government as a register of competent tradespeople.

GPT is totally independent of any commercial concern or manufacturers who supply the industry. Acceptance of any claim will therefore be completely unbiased and free from any commercial pressures. The scheme is also subject to the statutory control of insurance companies. Substantial insurance cover for the Scheme has been arranged through the London market and is subject to an aggregate limit of £1,000,000 per annum with a £100,000 limit for any single claim, except structural waterproofing, where the liability of the Insurers shall not exceed 20% of the original contract price as shown on the Registration Proposal Form. There is a once only registration fee for either timber treatment or dampcoursing work up to a ceiling contract value of £10,000. Similarly, a once-only registration fee, that relates to the value of the works, is payable for tanking works. This back-up guarantee is only applicable to full schemes, involving walls, floors and ceilings/vaultings, where applicable.
